Presence heals and makes us whole

Spiritual Direction

A holy space prepared just for you - welcoming, safe, gentle, unhurried -
where you can begin to tell
your sacred stories.
It’s a place to share your
longings and sorrows and wonder
about the questions within you
that have no easy answers.

Together we listen and discover
the movements of God within
your beautiful, precious life.

  • Spiritual direction is a process where people set their intention to listen, one person listening to another, and noticing the movements of the Holy Spirit within the conversation.

It’s a way of keeping company together with the God who is always keeping company with us.

We are welcomed to be just as we are. We grow in trust that the Spirit is right here with us now and in the stuff of our lives. There might be pauses to be quiet and listen together. For me, when I am listening to another, I am listening for the Christ in them. I reflect back their own words to them and they check inside. They notice when the Holy Spirit within them resonates with their spirit.

Spiritual direction is a gentle, patient, unhurried process where people have space to find their own words to describe the mystery of God in their life – a spiritual director will facilitate a deepening in their experience of God as mystery

The spiritual director trusts that the journey being explored belongs to the one telling it. The spiritual director does not tell the other what they should or should not do. The person learns to discern God’s voice and call and from there hear the invitations of how to be and what to do.

  • We are listening for how God’s desires for our lives are showing up in our desires.

We savor the gifts that come – like unconditional love, receiving of grace, permission to rest and the sense of God’s presence with us together.

What fruit might we notice after meeting in spiritual direction?

Sense of being heard, known, seen, understood, accepted, loved which leads to inner healing and life transformation.

We come to know both ourselves and God more intimately, a sense that we are in partnership in all of life together.

We live more present to life and the real life before us with greater compassion. We live more and more from our true self.

We grow in discernment and have a sense of ‘rightness’ about our actions.

Greater hope, peace, freedom, love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, self-control, humility – fruit of the Spirit.

  • Absolutely! Spiritual direction space is well suited to wrestling with your doubts and constructs of faith.

The spiritual journey is marked by many twists and turns. It is not linear. We may find that we’ve entered a stage of faith where our understanding of God or relationship with God has changed. We may feel lost, or abandoned, or incredulous. We may no longer want or know how to pray.

You do not need to hold to any particular belief about God to have a spiritual direction conversation.

Everyone’s experience is welcomed and each person is treated with dignity and respect. Doubts are welcome here!

  • In Matthew 11, Jesus says, “Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.” (the Message)

Jesus consistently listened to people, one at time or with a small group of followers. From him, I have learned how to be a welcoming, compassionate and empathic listener to myself and others.

In the gospels we witness the transformative power of his loving and grace-filled presence.

  • Please reach out to me by email and share a little about why you feel drawn to meet. I’ll follow up in an email and we may discern if we’d like to set up an introductory meeting.

I currently offer spiritual direction through Restoration Ministries where donations can be received to support the ongoing ministry of spiritual direction.

Supervision for Spiritual Directors

The sacred call to offer spiritual direction to another person comes with responsibility to minister within the ethics and boundaries of this vocation. Supervision supports a spiritual director in deepening in awareness of God and self within a spiritual direction session and in every aspect of life. Contemplative, compassionate, evocative supervision is a gentle, Spirit led process of noticing and attending to what happens within you as you listen to another. I integrate a whole body approach to supervision through the process of Inner Relationship Focusing.

Good supervision will support your growth as a spiritual director and your interior freedom to listen with attentiveness, relaxed presence, compassion, empathy and wisdom.

Kim appeared on the Three Association podcast for a conversation about supervision and Inner Relationship Focusing. If you are interested, you can listen in here.

  • I offer private supervision over zoom, telephone or in person.
In an introductory meeting, we will get acquainted with one another and discern if we might be a good fit together for supervision. I’ll share some supportive ways to prepare for our time together in supervision.

Supervision is a graced, compassionate, embodied process that supports your living and listening more fully from your true self. I incorporate Inner Relationship Focusing, which is a trauma sensitive approach of deep listening to how your body is carrying a situation.

  • Each session lasts 55 minutes and costs $85.
We may discuss a sliding fee scale to work within your means.

  • If you are interested in Spiritual Direction Supervision, I would love to connect with you. Please send an email here and I will reach out to you for an introductory conversation.

  • An embodied Prayer of Examen guided meditation for Self Supervision can be found here.

Guided Focusing Sessions

A time to listen more deeply to the wisdom held within your body in a trauma sensitive way. Together we welcome and stay with how your body is holding something. There is no fixing, just being with and trusting the Spirit within you - guiding you to more and more life.

  • Inner Relationship Focusing is a body-based awareness process where you pay attention to something forming and unclear, where you can sense more than can be put into words.

We are learning to build a physical and relational body skill of welcoming and staying present with whatever we find within ourselves - so that we can live compassionately present to our real lives – as they actually are.

  • Overwhelm is our body’s response to too much, too soon, and too fast. You and your body will set the pace of your process and we will go slow, building a safe and unhurried relationship with all that you discover.

Nothing is forced. You will discover that you can trust your body’s process and pace. Over time you will build an inner capacity to be friendly and welcoming to whatever you find within.

  • Please reach out to me by email and we can set up a time to meet.

Each 50 minute session costs $85. We can discuss a slide scale fee to meet your needs.
